Day Three Recap of Mustang-9 World Series

Day three of the eighth annual Mustang-9 International World Series from Walnut, CA was a great day for baseball. By the end of the day the two teams who will battle in the championship game was determined.

GAME 1: SCOTTSDALE, AZ 19, WILMINGTON, NC 3

Wilmington, NC watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in an 19-3 loss to Scottsdale, AZ on Sunday. Scottsdale, AZ scored on singles by Daniel Camacho Jr, Bowen Jantz, Anthony Benitez Jr, and Jerry Young III. Three errors helped Scottsdale, AZ add a few more runs in the first inning.

Scottsdale, AZ scored twelve more runs in the second inning. The big hit of the inning came from Jantz who hit a double to left field.

Wilmington, NC scored three runs in the third inning. Wilmington, NC capitalized on a walk and two errors scoring two runs. James Joyce drove in one run when he singled to third base.

Colton Braun was the pitcher for Scottsdale, AZ. He surrendered three runs on one hit, striking out four while walking four.

Grant Jones started for Wilmington, NC. Jones allowed fifteen runs on eleven hits.

With the results, Scottsdale, AZ moves to 2-2 in the World Series. Unfortunately, Wilmington, NC finished the World Series 0-4.

GAME 2: WALNUT, CA 12, LAREDO, TX 4

Walnut, CA came out ready to play. Walnut, CA scored seven runs in the first inning. Scoring on a double by Aaron Avila, a single by Isaiah Sanchez, an error, a single by Jacob Cabrera, and a single by Mason Ruvalcaba.

Laredo, TX gave up a fight despite the loss. They tallied eight hits. Nathan Torres, Joshua Guzman, and Gerardo Escobedo each had multiple hits for Laredo, TX. Escobedo, Guzman, and Torres all had two hits. Seven bases were stolen, with Jayden Gonzalez leading the way with two.

Sanchez was on the mound for Walnut, Ca. He allowed eight hits and four runs while striking out five and walking one.

Jaden Velasquez got the start for Laredo, TX. He allowed seven runs on five hits while striking out one and walking one.

With the result, Walnut moves to 3-1 in the World Series. Unfortunately, Laredo, TX finished the World Series 1-3.

GAME 3: ORANGE, CA 15, WALNUT 5

 Walnut, CA started off strong, scoring four runs in the first inning. Singles by Adrian Marquez and Aaron Avila, a walk by Isaiah Sanchez made bases loaded for Joseph Sanchez. Joseph Sanchez hit a double to left field scoring Marquez and Avila. Deegan Guerrero hit a single to right field scoring Sanchez.

Despite the lead already being 4-0, Orange, CA didn’t let that stop them. Andrew Waibel stepped up to plate and hit a triple to start things off. Followed by an RBI from Seth Windsor. Joe Velazquez doubled to center field. Singles from Gavin Klovstad and Jacob Barragan brought in two runs, making the score 4-3.

The big inning came in the fourth for Orange, CA. An error gave Orange, CA their first base runner. Velazquez double to center field helping increase the score. Singles from Windsor, Klovstad, Barragan, Christian Cicero, Joshua Perez, and Waibel helped Orange, CA bring in the ten run rule.

Luke McCuistion started at pitcher for Orange, CA. He allowed five runs on six hits while striking out one and walking one.

Jake Chin was on the mound for Walnut, CA. He allowed seven runs on six hits.

With the result, Orange, CA moves to 4-0 in the World Series. Orange, CA earned their spot in the Championship Game today July 26th at 1:00 p.m. PST/US. Unfortunately, Walnut, CA finished the World Series 3-2.

GAME 4: PLACENTIA, CA 15, SCOTTSDALE, AZ 3

Scottsdale, AZ watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in an 15-3 loss to Placentia, CA. Placentia, CA started off with two walks and an error. Home runs by Jackson Esparza and Anderson Miles, a triple by Madden Zaha, and a single by Drew Baranick helped Placentia, CA start off with a 9-0 lead.

Placentia, CA had ten hits on the day. Both Esparza and Gavin Oborn had multiple hits for Placentia, CA. Maximiliano Mejia let Placentia, CA with three stolen bases, as Placentia, CA stole ten bases.

Zaha started on the mound for Placentia, CA. He surrendered two runs on two hits over two innings, striking out two.

Gage Bonham was on the hill for Scottsdale, AZ. He allowed one hit and four runs over one-third of an inning.

Daniel Camacho Jr went 2 for 3 at the plate for Scottsdale, AZ.

With the results, Placentia, CA moves to 3-1 in the World Series. Placentia, CA earned their spot in the Championship Game today July 26th at 1:00 p.m. PST/US. Unfortunately, Scottsdale, AZ finished the World Series 2-3.
